THANK YOU, GEORGE FRANKLIN.

I have just finished proofreading George Franklin's safety article for the August issue of the Reporter. (Yes, I know it isn't even July. We're that far ahead on some things, though!)

I am just so struck by George's care for the people of this Village. What a service he has rendered us in his columns and articles alone. His particular concern is for the more elderly among us. He doesn't want you to be cheated or hurt, your car stolen or your apartment burglarized. His columns invariably begin with "Hi folks" and end with "Be safe out there." You can tell he loves us and wants us to be well and safe. When we need a little chiding, he gives us a little chiding. George is a former law enforcement officer—with a great heart, I should say.

George's August column is about carjacking for one thing. Carjacking can be a brutal crime, and you can be hurt, not to mention have your car stolen.

Thank you, George, for all you have done and do for this Village.

PHASE II ENVIRONMENTAL SITE ASSESSMENT - REFLECTION BAY PROPOSED DEVELOPMENT - FORMER GOLF COURSE

Hi all,
The following link leads to an in-depth Environmental assessment of the former golf course.

It is not know at this time what impact this report will have on the Reflection Bay development - if any.

It is possible that the Florida Department of Environment Protection may supervise the mitigation of the property.

CONDO BOARD QUESTION

Is there any mandate for a Condo Board Member to be a "deeded" owner of a unit within that condo? If so, where is that requirement found?

KUDOS TO TWO

Like many others here, I receive Dave Israel's update e-mails on what is going on in the Village. Dave calls these reports Information Forward Initiatives. (Talk about "Armyspeak," that's a mouthful for you!) One of the things I look forward to the most is Donald Foster's weekly CAM report. It's concise and right up to date on the progress of things big and small needing repair and maintenance in CV. The photos with notes are a big help, too. (Don't change a thing, Donald.) It's amazing how much work is going on right under our noses, and with our CAM's reports we get the straight skinny, not pool and bus rider guesswork. THANK YOU, DONALD.

One of Donald's photos showed one of our new buses with Bob Rivera's colorful Century Village sign on it. I saw the same bus "live" parked outside the Clubhouse on Friday. It is BEAUTIFUL. I love the tropical scene and the script printing. (Some would have preferred one of the block printing choices, I'm told, but I like the script.) What a professional job. THANK YOU, BOB, and I hope you are doing better in the hospital. You have been and are still going through some ordeal. Why don't you send Bob a card, guys—the address is Kingston Hospital, 396 Broadway, Kingston, NY 12401.

SECURITY COMMITTEE - LIVE IN CYBEPSPACE - jUNE 2, 2017

CONSIDER THE SOURCE

-
On Friday, June 2, our Delegates will be asked to approve a marvelous Atlantic Broadband contract for bulk video services and optional Internet services. This contract (two years in the making), beats their competition in financial terms and in terms of entertainment content!
-
Despite the superiority of the Atlantic Broadband offer, there will be a few Residents who will rise in opposition, simply because they are considering their own needs rather than the needs of the Village.
-
Who are these few nay-sayers? They are the people who are suing us (me), they are the people who stay up all hours of the night on the Internet suggesting that UCO (me) are Nazis, Fascists or other sorts of reprobates. They are the people who publicly spew the foulest sort of language. They are the people who squeal and shriek to disrupt meetings - You know who they are! They talk much, but contribute nothing!
-
So, on Friday, when the best entertainment package we have ever had comes up for a vote, just note who gets up to trash it-and consider the source, and then, please ignore their diatribe and vote to approve the Atlantic Broadband contract.
-
Those of you who elected us - have trust in your choices - know that we exercise the highest degree of fiduciary responsibility - enable us to provide the best for the entire Village.
